The hilarious indelicacy of Key & Peele

I remember sorta liking the Key & Peele show–which ran 53 episodes across five seasons from 2012 to 2015–when it was first produced.

I watched some shows. Laughed a bit. Didn’t pay it much mind.

Of late, the Key part of the team, Keegan-Michael Key, has become the face of some Choice Hotels ads: none of which I find funny, particularly well done or interesting, but they appear a lot in whatever shows I’ve been watching in recent months, so I see him a lot.

Then, about a week ago, a skit from an old episode of Key & Peele showed up in one of my feeds (the airplane turbulence skit). I watched it. I laughed. I watched another skit. I laughed. And I watched another and another and another and another.

And I was blown away!

Sure, some skits were funnier to me than others. But what really struck me was their range. These two TRAVEL. They go all over the board with the characters they play. And the indelicacy with which they address social issues, societal dysfunction, personality quirks and, overall, the weirdness of life is epic.

If you haven’t watched any of their skits in awhile, or ever, I highly recommend doing so. And do watch a bunch to see their wide range and incredible talent.

Also, if you’ve ever seen the 2017 movie, “Get Out,” that was Peele’s doing. I haven’t seen it in ages, but I remember it being pretty good.
