I’ve been a writer all my life.
I’ve worked in communications and marketing for companies and organizations. I’ve had (have) my own business offering freelance writing services. And I’ve done tons of community-service work with my writing.
While it may not seem like community service, per se, to one not in the know, one of the biggest, longest-running, most time-consuming, community-focused writing projects I’ve ever done is in creating *”Surviving Burning Man: What to Bring … and Why.”*
Yes, it’s in a seemingly interminable state of being edited. Yep, there are sentences that lead to nowhere when I got distracted for a moment–or months. Mm-hmm, there are notes to myself, such as highlighting sections to move elsewhere in the book. And, I’m sure, for all the copyediting and proofreading I can do for others, my book is rife with, uh, sections that could be written better.
But/and … if you know anyone going to Burning Man, or wanting to do so someday, my book provides a host of scenarios, tips, recommendations and stories to help folks better prepare.
Take a look, if you’d like. And most certainly share it with those for whom it could be experience-changing.
Thanks!
