The old must die

I cannot recommend, encourage or hope enough that you read The Fourth Turning Is Here: What the Seasons of History Tell Us about How and When This Crisis Will End.
Soon. Now. Read it. Listen to it. (I love the audiobook version.)

Big changes are afoot. Even bigger changes are a’comin’.

Things will be hard. Harder than hard. But they also will be galvanizing. The old systems — the decay, the neglect, the dysfunctional — will be wiped away in the urgency for national solidarity around a just, urgent and demanding cause.

Massive mobilization (mostly of millions of young men in their 20s and 30s) will happen. The national landscape will change significantly, drastically and almost “overnight.” And along the way, the nation will be re-born again.

No one will be able to predict exactly what will happen. But it will happen. The old will die for the new to be born.

The cycles of history — and quite specifically, though not exclusively in the U.S. — are key to how our nation renews itself.

History repeats. Cycles repeat. “Modernity” doesn’t erase cyclical time, seasons or generational archetypes; it intensifies such influences.
