Through different eyes

I wrote this “comment” on a /trump-lovin’ friend’s FB post in response to his glorification of Elon and calling out those advocating destruction of Teslas, dealerships and such. (I agree on the “let’s not vandalize and destroy” part. Didn’t agree on what else he wrote.)

While I think many people are delighted to see folks selling Teslas and boycotting Musk, I think 99% of people don’t condone vandalism or destruction, nor are they drawn to it. There are always sociopaths in the world. They’re part of the human realm. Just as there are psychopaths, though the former is more likely the law-breaker here.

And while some may give an occasional cheer for the destruction, I think it’s more as an expression of the grief they see watching a completely unelected, paid-to-be-there, hypocrital-as-eff (he’s fine with his billions in federal tax cuts and federal contracts but, lo, let us destroy the agencies that help the impoverished, the unprotected) person whose business history is in smashing things and seeing what survives, now unleashed, unbridled and unhindered by Our Laws … well, it’s a lot.

You have every right to think what you think, of course — and most certainly to post what you want to post. We all do. Though, to me, in this post, you sound like pretty much any other /trump-musk-cult follower, which is not how I normally think of you. I normally think of you as an intelligent person who is a Republican, who has perspective and a thoughtful mind. This post here sounds like something I could read on any MAGA page.

Personally, I’d be much more interested in your perspective on Elon’s attempt to buy elections, his attempt to buy judges in states that have ruled against his Gazillionaire Dreams, and his crash-bang-kill-it approach to dismantling agencies that oversee and put some rails on his businesses (FDA, SEC, DOL, CFPB and more, more, more.)

We probably read different news sources and value the perspectives of some rather than others. That’s the state of today, such as it is.

But I find my skin crawling and my sense of the American ethos withering with the flagrant law-breaking Elon, /trump & Crew continue to make. They’re oligarchs. They’re oligarchs. They’re oligarchs. Do not be fooled. They have no interest in the country, the “little people,” freedoms or opportunity. They’re oligarchs.

Elon smashes government-regulated agencies without a plan, without a strategy. Just smash and destroy. Dismantle and break. That’s not smart. Do that with a company you own, sure. Do that with a government and public services? Disastrous. With untold ripples of pain and effect on untold millions of people.

But, we probably don’t read or listen to the same news sources, so we form different pictures in our minds.

And your friends here, probably without even reading all I wrote, will vilify me as some TDS-affected, woke liberal with no right to my own thoughts. Such is the state of things.

FWIW, I used to be in the “Elon is a genius camp” but switched up (long before DOGE … which just HAPPENS to be the name of his crypto currency … wow, what a co-inky-dink). He isn’t brilliant. He isn’t a great technologist. He takes other people’s inventions and ideas, buys them, calls them his, manipulates markets with illegal-via-SEC-laws actions, again and again.

People who’ve worked with him, who know him, tell a very different story than the one he wants told. It took me awhile to start seeing it and to shift. But, yeah, he ain’t that smart … except in the sense of manipulating /trump’s fragile ego (oh, how /trump is so glorified by his circle of wealthy friends — wow — side note/side question/side thought: I don’t think /trump has any true friends. #sad #pathetic #understandable. But then again, narcissists can’t truly have friends, just pawns) to position himself to become all the more oligarchical, hypocritical and destructive.

Elon is a psychopath. He finds glee in destruction and pain.

/trump is a narcissist. His only goal in life if the fortification of his False Self Narrative.

That’s what I see. Clear as day.
