Introducing Miss Lori Powell

Let me introduce you, online, here, to Miss Lori Powell. I met Lori 10-12-14? years ago when Maryland was getting a second area code (that’s 410, for those of you new to these parts). See, at that time I was sending out 3,000+ faxes each week of the Business Monthly‘s weekly fax report. (I don’t even remember what it was called. Monday Morning?)

Anyway, because of the way the fax service had been set up on my computers, I was going to have to manually add to each and every account, a new area code. At this time, I happened to have met a staff member from DSG: Developmental Services Group (what is now Humanin, I think). This particular staff member worked with Lori and knew that Lori wanted to do some work with computers. This was waaay back when … when computer work was “cutting edge.”

Twice a week, a bus driver would bring Lori to my office where she’d work for a couple of hours. Challenged as she is in her mobility and speech, I just fell in love with her right away. She’s bright, smiling and a diligent worker.

Over the years, I’ve seen her now and again. She’s even received some news coverage for her entrepreneurial efforts, including a note card business wherein she designed her own cards. And just this week, she sent me an email saying she’s now selling AVON … only online as her physical movements are a bit encumbered. I just bought some AVON product and plan to do more shopping in the coming months.

Consider, please, becoming a customer of hers. Her challenges, even just to communicate, are intense. Her spirit and desire to be and experience more than Life has offered her are inspiring.

Lori’s online AVON website is www.youravon.com/loripowell.
