I wrote, the other night, a haiku expressing both my hate of mosquitos and my joy in the splattering of their bodies, blood-filled or not. I then posted my haiku on Facebook, which apparently inspired others to write and add their own, and for me to write a couple more.
I present to you now a few entries from the Mosquito-haters Haiku Club. Join in, if you so desire.
It’s death, in a flash
Crushed mid flight to buzz no more
My satisfaction, so pure
Laser focused, still
I wait, hands hovering, poised
Its movement, erratic
That hateful sound, heard
Close, too close, then distant. Gone?
Back, buzzing, my focus on it
Its blood-stained remainsLie still on the wall, a markOf my late-night war
Peace now fills the roomSilence reigns where buzz once roaredSleep, sweet victory.
Ink on paper flows,My words join the list of hate,Mosquitoes beware.
Mosquito be gone,The joro spider has spawned,Your reign is no more!
Blood sucking nuisances,Humming high around my ears.Swat! Splat! Mangled red stain.
No more telltale buzzInvasives steal silentlyInto your earlobe
Exhale C 2 OiPhone light like a beaconRight in front of me
